The best places to stay in Colombia when you are looking for something special (budget friendly)
Here are my favourite (budget-friendly) places to stay in Colombia!
Sure, there’s plenty of accommodation in Colombia. But how about staying somewhere with that extra special feature? An unforgettable view, secluded private beach or rad kitchen maybe? And all at affordable prices, I promise.

Medellin: open air kitchen in hip neighbourhood Getismani
Poblado Guest House
- Unique feature: Open air kitchen with amazing view
- Price per night: 30 – 80 USD for a private double room or studio
Poblado Guest House is a unique shared house in the hip neighbourhood Getismani. The house has a few self contained apartments, but we recommend the one of the top floor. If you stay on the top floor you’ll have your own room, but share the roof terrace with the other guests. This makes these rooms affordable at 30 – 45 USD per night. The open air kitchen overlooks all of Medellin, wow!


Isla Mistica (Isla Palma): beach paradise
Mistica Island Hostel
- Unique feature: Bounty island beach vibe
- Price per night: 50k – 260k COP (13 – 71 USD/ 11 – 60 Euro) for tent, dorm, private double room or private family room
Ready for white bounty beaches and a little slice of heaven? Mistica Island Hostel is the place for beach bumming the day away!



Tolu/Coveñas on the Caribbean coast: ultimate beach relaxation
De Mar Amar Cabaña-Hostal
- Unique feature: Beautiful (private) beach with local friendliness
- Price per night: 105k – 260k COP (25 – 60 Euro) for a private double room, depending on the season and room
De Mar Amar Cabaña-Hostal is a locally run beach house. They offer very reasonably meals and drinks. The accommodation offers access to their private beach with chairs, beds, hammocks and well stocked cooler box!

Salento
Hostal Cedro Negro
- Unique feature: Relaxing open air common area with view
- Price per night: 60k COP (16 USD) for a private double room
Hostal Cedro Negro is a small scale accommodation that is very good value for money. It has a breezy communal sitting area with hammocks overlooking the central square in the distance.



Playa Brava, Tayrona National Park
Playa Brava Teyumakke
- Unique feature: Away from the tourists, sleeping right next to the beach
- Price per night: 30k COP pp (hammock)
It takes about 3-4 hours of walking to get to this secluded beach, but it’s a way to escape the tourists in Tayrona National Park. You’ll have the palm tree lined beach all to yourself! The hammocks at Playa Brava Teyumakke are right next to the sandy beach, so you’ll fall asleep tot the sound of ocean waves.

Arrecifes, Tayrona National Park
Zona Camping Sector Arrecifes
- Unique feature: Away from the tourists, luxury hammocks
- Price per night: 30k COP pp (hammock)
Do you want spacious camping or a luxury hammock? Then Zona Camping Sector Arrecifes is the right camping place for you! This campsite is located between the famous Zaino entrance and El Cabo San Juan beach. The pristinely white hammocks come with a mosquito net and private locker. There is no ocean view from the campsite, but it’s only a few meter walk to the beach! And there onsite restaurant has yummy breakfast too!
